Marie C. Roche, 81, of Bloomingdale, NJ and Damascus, Pa, passed away on March 24, after a courageous battle against a brief illness. Marie was born to Clara and William Happel in Jersey City, NJ. She attended Emerson High School in Union City, NJ. She worked as a bank teller at The First National Bank in Bloomingdale before embarking on a 20 year career working in the business office and later as an executive assistant at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, NJ. In 1957, she married James Roche and they were happily married for 64 years. In 1958 they had their first son James and in 1961 they had their second son Mark. In 1962, they moved to Bloomingdale, NJ where they spent time between Damascus, Pa, Bloomingdale, NJ, and their place in St. Martin. Marie was a member of the St. Anthony's Columbiettes of Butler NJ. She enjoyed her book club in Pennsylvania, playing some golf, reading, watching game shows, and doing any kind of puzzle. She also enjoyed throwing or attending a good cocktail party. She loved going out to dinner with her husband, family and friends. She was always good company and brought fun and laughter to any gathering. Marie was predeceased by son James, daughter-in-law Linda, and grandson Jim. She is survived by her husband James, son Mark and his wife Denise Roche, and granddaughters Annmarie Roche, and Megan and Mallory Roche. She is also survived by her sister, Elsie Schneider, of Oakland, NJ and nephews Michael, David, and Ernie Schneider and niece Heidi Schneider. Services will be private with a family and friends gathering in the near future.
