Mary E. Smith passed peacefully in her home on April 19th, 2021 at the age of 60. She was born in Huntington, N.Y. to Herbert Kraese and Agnes (Mitchell) Bonamo on August 15th, 1960. Mary married Gary Smith in May of 1981 and completed her family with the welcoming of her daughter Jessica Smith in September of 1998. Mary worked as President and CEO of Highland Capital Corporation. During her time at Highland and other companies, she shaped and changed many lives for the better, she was an inspiration for all she crossed paths with. She was a brave, strong and independent woman which many looked up to including her daughter Jessica. When not at work, Mary could be found on the board of the Smoke Rise Riding Club serving as president for many years. She would spend her weekends working at horse shows with her daughter. She always put herself aside to support and help others, she involved herself in every way she could, and her family is incredibly proud of what she has accomplished and done for everyone around her. Mary Smith will be survived by her husband Gary Smith, daughter Jessica Smith, father Herbert Kraese, mother, Agnes Bonamo, and siblings Herb, Karl, Norma, Diane and Phillip.
