Nicholas J. DiDio, 88, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on April 14, 2010. Born on December 19, 1921 in Brooklyn, Nick was a military policeman in the Philippines during World War II, Following his military service, he joined the US Post Office and served as a mail carrier from 1946 until his retirement in 1980. He then served as a team member with the City of New York School Lunch program until 1994. Nick was a past member of the Sons of Italy and Veterans of Foreign Wars, an avid walker, and a devotee of Frank Sinatra and Perry Como.His wife of 44 years, the former Gloria Sciarrillo, predeceased him in 1994.He is survived by his daughters, Felicia Goodness of Bloomingdale, NJ and Lucille Schinkel of Brooklyn and their husbands, James Goodness and John Schinkel, and grandson Richard Goodness of Astoria, NY. Viewing hours will be on Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 19, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 65 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler. Final disposition will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick's memory to St. Anthony School, 57 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ.
