Raymond J. Spellman, age 72, of Butler, NJ, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, March 12, 2009. Mr. Spellman was born in Paterson, NJ, the son of the late Raymond J. and the late Mary (Sacco) Spellman. He served in the Army from 1960 to 1962 during Peace Time. He retired from Singer Kearfott, Little Falls, NJ, after 41 years as a Director in 1998. After retiring he worked as a manager with North Jersey Property Maintenance in Bloomingdale, NJ, with his son Brian. Ray graduated Butler High School in 1955, was president of the Butler Fire Department for many years as well as serving as President for Kiel Hook and Ladder for 27 years. He was a coach for the Butler Jr. Bulldogs and Tri Boro Little League and led his team to a State Championship in 1980. Raymond was also a member of the Wallkill Golf Club for 19 years. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 loving years, Margaret "Peggy" (nee Baker), his beloved children, Raymond J. Spellman and wife Julie, Dawn M. Anastasi, and Brian D. Spellman and wife Guillian, his cherisher grandchildren, Spencer Spellman, Brandon Spellman, Kelani Rea Anastasi, Braeden Anastasi, Alexandria Spellman, and Larissa Spellman, and a loving brother John A. Spellman and wife Margaret. Also surviving are a niece and nephew. Viewing hours will be Sunday, March 15th, 2009, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held Monday 10:30am at St. Anthony RC Church, 65 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ.
