Ricardo R. Fernandez, age 90, of Bloomingdale, New Jersey formerly of the Philippines, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Mr. Fernandez was born in Cuyo, Palawan, Philippines, the son of the late Carlos P. and the late Faustina (Rabang) Fernandez. He was a Supervisor of Schools for the District of Quezon in the Philippines. Ricardo was the Advisor for the Palawan Association of the Eastern United States and a veteran of the United States Army serving as a sergeant in the Palawan Special Battalion during WWII. He was married to the late Alicia Ochoa for 52 years. He is survived by his beloved children, Ronald Fernandez and wife Elizabeth, Janet Skaalvik and husband Torbjorn, Carl Fernandez and wife Melchora and Arlene Mooney and husband Chris, three loving siblings, Carolina San Juan and Carlos A. Fernandez and Aurora dela Cruz, six cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Figueroa and husband Bernardo, Richard Fernandez, Carlo Fernandez, Cara Fernandez, Ricardo Rafael Fernandez and Carlos Skaalvik, one adored great granddaughter, Emmaline Fernandez and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 10:00 to 1:00 pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral service will be held Saturday 1:00 pm also at the funeral home. All other services will be private.
