Moody, Richard Alan Joseph, age 64 of Butler, died peacefully on December 11, 2011, at Hospice of New Jersey at St. Joesph's Wayne Hospital, surrounded by loving family. Richard, who died of lung cancer, was born in Paterson at St. Joseph's Hospital on February 25, 1947. His parents were the late Elizabeth Jane (Depuyt) Moody and William Francis Moody. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Littlefield) Moody. He also leaves his devoted daughter LoriJeane Moody, son-in-law Andrew Fessenden, and beloved grandson Miles Fessenden of Glen Ridge. He was blessed by the loving support of his sisters Beverly (Moody) Shefcik, Lisa (Moody) Roberts and his brother Brian Moody as well as the love and respect of many other dear family members and friends. Richard had a long career in computer programming that spanned the technology revolution, ultimately retiring as Chief Information Officer for Popular Club Plan headquartered in Garfield. Known by all for his tireless generosity, in retirement Richard sought a care-giving path by pursuing a degree in Nursing at Bloomfield College where he quickly became an honor student and leader. In advance of completing his studies, he began work as a volunteer at the PACU at Clara Maas Hospital in Belleville. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 15th , 2011 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. Friends and relatives may arrive at the funeral home at 9 am before leaving for a funeral Mass on Friday 11am at St. Anthony's R.C. Church, Butler, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of New Jersey Foundation, 400 Broadacres Drive, 4th Floor, Bloomfield, NJ 07003, in his memory.
