Richard H. Schmiedhauser Jr.

Richard H Schmiedhauser Jr., of Butler, age 67, passed away on May 10, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Patterson, NJ and was the son of the late Richard H. Sr. and Josephine Schmiedhauser. He was a retired police officer for the Butler Police Department serving 27 1/2 years and after retirement became a teacher at Interpass where he taught airport security and safety, he was a member of the PBA, the BPA, VFW, and the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War, a S.E.R.T. team member and one of the first teachers of the "DARE" program in Butler. Richard was also the drummer for the Forever Gold Band. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 loving years, Donna (Passenti) Schmiedhauser, his beloved sons, Scott and wife Eileen and Jarred and wife Jennifer, his loving siblings, Peter and his wife Cindy, Chuck and Sue Maurer and husband Paul and his dear sister-in-law's Diane Schmiedhauser, Marianne Yodice and Lynn Passenti, his cherished grandchildren, Alexa, Zachary, Haylee, Niko, Avery and JJ. He is also survived by his close friends, Mike and Michelle Siek and Don and Judy Smith and many nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his dear son Jason, his loving brother Michael, and his brother-in-law's, Dennis Passenti and Frank Yodice. Viewing hours will be Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered Friday 10am at St. Anthony RC Church, Butler, NJ. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ.
