Richard J. Coda, Jr., age 78 of Pompton Lakes died on Friday, January 7, 2011. He was born in Montclair, NJ the son of the late Richard J (Sr) and Myrtle (Landsperg) Coda. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was stationed in England. He then reenlisted for a 6 year stint in the Air National Guard of NJ. He attended Oklahoma A&M. Richard was a deeply religious man whose devotion to God and his Roman Catholic faith was the essence of his path and wisdom. He was a parishioner at both St. Anthony of Padua (Caldwell) and St. Anthony's (Butler). He owned and operated Richard J. Coda Graphics Consulting for over 50 years. Richard was an avid fisherman, whether fishing near his home on Pompton Lake or his many trips to the Thousand Islands, he never had a to spin a tale because he was always successful.He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Judy Ann (nee Griener), two sisters, Shirley Caron & Audrey Tracey, and his children Richard M. and wife Michele,Kathy Barnett and husband Rick, Marie Hunt and husband Jeff, Suzanne Hagen and husband Jerry, Joseph Coda and Judy E. Coda, as well as 5 grandchildren, Schuyler, Brielle & Aubrey Hunt, Lindsay Coda & Mallory Hagen. Viewing hours will be Monday, January 10th from 6-9pm at Morrison's Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi ave in Butler. A mass will be held on Tuesday, January 11th at 11am at St. Anthony's on Bartholdi Ave in Butler. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvery cemetary nearby
