Richard Van Der Laan

Richard Van Der Laan, age 90, of Kinnelon, died Saturday, December 28, 2019. Mr. Van Der Laan was born in Clifton, NJ the son of the late Jacob and the late Josephine (Lombardo) Van Der Laan. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 during Korean War, worked at Chemical Leaman Tanklines in East Rutherford, NJ, for thirty years before he retired; he loved all things trucks, cars and his trips to Holland. He is survived by his beloved children, Mark Van Der Laan and Kathy Melando and husband Michael and two cherished grandchildren, Christopher Meehan and Kaylyn Melando. Richard was pre deceased by his devoted wife, Barbara. A prayer service will be offered on Thursday, January 2nd, 2020, from 9am to 9:30am at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A graveside service will also be offered on Thursday 11:30 am at St. Michaels Cemetery, Jessup, PA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Richards memory to Disabled American Veterans, 2914 W Diamond St. Philadelphia, PA 19121-1210.
