Robert J. Kochka,

Robert J. Kochka, 91, a lifelong resident of West Milford, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2018 with his loving wife Mary at his side. Robert was born in West Milford, son of the late George and Ethel (Tintle) Kochka. Robert proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines during the Korean War. He was a Parishioner and Head Usher at St. Joseph RC Church, West Milford, NJ, and a Foreman on the West Milford Road Department for over 47 years. Robert was one of the original founding members of both the Heritage Committee and Historic Preservation Commission for 25 years and was frequently seen as Santa and Abe Lincoln. Robert and his wife Mary were presented with the Mary D. Haase Lifetime Volunteer Award from the Township of West Milford in 2008. Robert is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 70 years, Mary, his beloved children, Mary Ann Morrison and husband Ross, Robert Kochka, Lois Kochka, Peggy Anne Kochka and Catherine Kochka-Thomas, his ten cherished grandchildren, one of which is deployed overseas, Marine Sergeant Mario V. Lanza, twelve adored great grandchildren and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his sister Mary Smith. Viewing hours will be held Sunday, November 25th, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave. Butler, NJ. A Mass will be offered on Monday 11am at St. Josephs RC Church, West Milford, NJ. Burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
