Robert T. Henne, of West Milford, formerly of Bloomingdale, passed away on Tuesday, July 14th. Bob will forever be remembered as a quiet man who observed everything and loved to spend time with friends and family. Many knew Bob fondly as Dutch, a nod to his familys ancestry of the Pennsylvania Dutch. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1937, the son of Robert and Edna (Shade) Henne, Bob married his best friend and high school sweetheart Deanne (Kirchner) in September of 1958. Bob was employed at Norman Sheet Metal for 45 years, and was the owner for 25 years until his retirement in 1998. Bob was a member of Bloomingdale United Methodist Church. Bob loved traveling throughout the world on business trips and often reminisced of his visits to Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Australia, Italy, Austria and Hawaii with Deanne. Together they visited all but three states in the U.S. via their beloved motorhome. Bob took numerous trips with friends and family skiing the beautiful mountains of Vermont, Utah and Colorado. A favorite travel memory Bob loved to share was a multifamily motorhome trip with dear family friends to Walt Disney World, in which the families were mistaken for a signing group as they adorned matching red shirts. He always had a good chuckle sharing this story. He also enjoyed spending time with the guys every June during bike week in Laconia, New Hampshire. When not traveling by motorhome, Bob could be found out on his motorcycle with Deanne, or taking day trips throughout New York and New England. He loved to ride to Brattleboro, Vermont for breakfast on any given weekend. An avid bowler, Bob was a former member of the Midland Park, Oakland and Butler Bowling leagues, and won many league trophies and championships. As a lifelong fan of throwing horseshoes, Bob shared his passion with his son Tom and was a member of the Porktown Hurlers horseshoe team for the Montville Horseshoe League. Later in retirement he began golfing and golfed with dear friends every Tuesday. He also enjoyed watching golf on television while relaxing at home. Though Bob enjoyed traveling, activities, and meeting interesting people, his favorite times were those spent with family, visiting with his sons Tom and Jim, their spouses, his grandchildren, and great granddaughter. Bob leaves his beloved wife of nearly 62 years, Deanne, of West Milford. His sons, Thomas Sr. and his wife Teresa (Marion) Henne of Lopatcong, N.J., and James Henne and his wife, Marcia Rosbury-Henne, of Orange, MA; his grandsons, Daniel W. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Edna (Shade) Henne, and his son, Stephen Michael Henne. At the families request all services will be private.
