Roy M. Sisco

July 6, 1912 — January 12, 2008

ROY M. SISCORoy was born July 6, 1912 in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania. He spent his early years in the Butler/Bloomingdale/ Pompton Lakes area. In 1938 he moved his family from Pompton Lakes to Kinnelon where he lived for the rest of his life. In 1947 he was appointed to the Kinnelon Building Code Committee where he served as Chairman. He then was elected to the Kinnelon Borough Council in 1957 and in 1962 became Borough Council President. He joined the Kinnelon Volunteer Fire Company in 1939 and was an active member up until 1981 having served as President (1947-1950), Assistant Chief (1946) and Secretary/Treasurer (1941-1945). He was Neighborhood Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America from 1942 until 1953 and in 1960 became Worshipful Master of Silentia Lodge #168, Free & Accepted Masons. He married Jennie May Hurd of Pompton Lakes who predeceased him in 1980. He is survived by his two sons: Richard of Kingston, Oklahoma, James of Milton, New Jersey; 10 grand children and 13 great grandchildren. Viewing hours will be Tuesday, January 15th, 2008, 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at The Morrison Funeral Home 86 Bartholdi Ave. Butler, NJ. A Masonic Service will be held also on Tuesday at 8pm. Friends may gather Wednesday at the funeral home at 10am before going to the Mount Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated given to Silentia Lodge #168 F&AM, 87 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, N.J. 07405.
