Russell Herbert Hannah, age 88, of Kinnelon, NJ, died December 29th, 2014. Russell was the son of the late Herbert Ernest Hannah and Edythe Estelle Hargreaves. He is predeceased in life by his beloved wife of 52 years, Florence Rita (Riemer), his brother, Gordon and two sisters, Irene and Shirley. Russell is survived by one bother, Stuart and by many beloved Riemer family members. He was born in Bemidji, MN and grew up in West Milford and Newark, NJ. At age 17, he joined the Navy as a WWII signalman. His ship arrived in Okinawa immediately after the bombing of Hiroshima. After the war, he was employed at Ford Motor Plant in Mahwah, NJ as a supervisor of 26 years. Following that he spent 10 years as superintendent of maintenance at Out Lady of Sorrow Church and School in East Orange, NJ. Currently, he was a columnist for the Suburban Trends writing "Stories Worth The Telling". He belonged to the Kinnelon and Butler Historical Societies. He was also the family historian and genealogist. Russell was a pro-bowler, an avid fisherman and metal detector. He and his wife, Florence were honored patrons of the Ten Mile River Boy Scout Camp.Russell Herbert Hannah was a man who stood above the rest in this world, not only in height but in his intelligence and his humanity. He was the guiding light of our families, never judging, always helping and encouraging, sharing his wisdom, time and wealth with all. He will be forever missed and we pray he flew speedily to Flossie. We ask him to continue to watch over us until we meet again.A Memorial Visitation will be held, January 2, 2015 , 7:00-9:00 PM at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ.
