Ruth P White March 31, 1924 - March 24, 1921 Ruth P. White passed peacefully from this life at the age of 96. Ruth was born in Newark, NJ to Adam and Hazel (Fowler) Salzmann. When she was about 3 years old her father moved the family to Pequannock. She attended elementary school in Pequannock and then attended Butler High School. Ruth was introduced to her future husband, Raymond J. White of Butler, by her sister and brother-in-law. After her marriage, Ruth lived with her parents while her husband served in the U. S. Marines during WW II. A few years after his return, Ruth and Ray built a house with the help of many family members on a lot directly behind her parents home, where she lived for the rest of her life. Ruth's true goal in life was to provide a loving, comfortable, peaceful home for her husband and children. Also, for many years Ruth fostered several babies in her home. She was an avid gardener, planting trees, shrubs and flowers and processing the fruits of her husband's garden. She spent may hours in the fall canning tomatoes and various vegetables and making relishes. She loved making large pots of homemade pasta sauce to can in mason jars. She is remembered for making chili sauce for hot dogs and her delicious brownies which were always a hit at family picnics. She so enjoyed family gatherings, holiday dinners and picnics. Ruth enjoyed sewing and making many items for her home, herself, her children and grandchildren. She very proud of the several Raggedy Ann and Andy doll sets which she handmade, giving some as gifts and keeping one set for herself. She was also accomplished at knitting and crocheting, producing many, many afghans and baby blankets. Many nieces, nephews, and children and grandchildren of friends and relatives have been swaddled in her beautiful blankets. Ruth is predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Raymond J. White Sr., her son, Raymond, Jr., her sister, Eleanor Bundy and cherished brothers-in-law and sisters-in law. She is survived by her devoted daughter Donna and husband Richard Meyer of Green Pond, beloved granddaughters, Jennifer Nebel of Vernon, Kimberly and husband Richard Geoghegan of Lafayette and Jessica Schabel of Vernon; her cherished great-granddaughters Brooke and Caitlyn Geoghegan and her grandsons Adam and Raymond White. She is also survived by her brother-in law and sister-in-law Rudy and MaryLou White and many loved nieces and nephews. Due to the current restrictions on gatherings a service will be planned at a later date. .
