Schuyler 'Sky' Ball

December 18, 1931 — March 24, 2015

Schuyler "Sky" Ball, age 83, of Riverdale, NJ, born on Dec 18, 1931 in Pompton Lakes, NJ, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at home in Riverdale after a long illness. He grew up and raised his family in Bloomingdale and was the owner/operator of A to Z Service in Riverdale for 56 years. In his younger years, he was an avid motorcycle racer for Cycle Alley in Paterson, winning over 100 trophies throughout the Northeast. In 1959, he began a business repairing radiators in Pompton Lakes and in 1964 expanded to towing and trucking service at its current location in Riverdale. He was a member of the American Truck Historical Society, Metro Jersey Chapter. He enjoyed taking his antique trucks to truck shows and won several awards. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward M. Ball and Hetty (Debow) Ball, a daughter, Linda and two brothers, Woodward and Amory. He is survived by his wife, Zana, of 56 years, a daughter, Susan Pristas of Hillsborough and her husband, Clifford and his son, Edward Ball of Bloomingdale and his wife, Raimee and three grandchildren, Eddie and Brian Ball and Jasmine Pristas. A memorial service will be held at the Pompton Lakes Reformed Church on Saturday, March 28 at 11:00 AM, where he was a member.
