"Sean" Thomas Cassidy passed away peacefully on August 20, 2016, and is now united once again with his beloved partner of 47 years, John Patrick Higgins, who preceded him in 2013. Sean most recently lived at Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains. Prior to this, he and Pat lived in Rockaway for 17 years, and in Ringoes NJ for 22 years before that. A lifetime Episcopalian and a man of great faith, Sean was always an active presence in the many churches he attended over his lifetime: St David's in Kinnelon, Grace Church in Madison, St Mary the Virgin in NYC, and Trinity Cathedral in Trenton. Sean retired in 2006 from Mercedes Benz USA, a company that he loved dearly. Prior to that he worked for more than 25 years at Squibb Corporation. In retirement, Sean volunteered at St. Clares hospital in Denville for 10 years. Sean leaves his devoted friend of 20 years, James Alden, and his extended "adopted" family of Aldens: his "mom" Barbara, 91, and a host of sisters, nieces, nephews etc. He was a kind and gentle man who loved freely and gave his heart openly. He will be missed by family and friends. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday August 27, 2016 from 9am to 11am at St. David's Episcopal Church 91 Kinnelon Rd, Kinnelon, NJ . A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11am following the memorial gathering also at the Church. In Lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Altar Guild of Grace Church Madison or St. David's Episcopal Church.
