TESSIEANN A. SYLER Tessieann Adeline Syler was born in Andover, MA and as a young child moved to Parker Street in Lawrence where she would live until 2001. Born on September 19,1934, Tessieann was the only child of Stanley and Adeline Syler. The Sisters of Charity of Halifax of whom she would fondly speak about educated her as a young girl. As Tessieann would say, "They had a very positive influence on my life." Her college education took place at Merrimac College in North Andover, where she studied library science. After graduation she went to work at the Lawrence, MA public library where she would remain for the next 40 years. Retiring from the library Tessieann lived with her mother on Parker Street, her father having died previously. In 2001 Tessieanns mother died. It was at that time Tessieann made the decision to move to New Jersey where she could be in close proximity to her friend of many years, Fr. Thomas Hartle, ofm. During these years she joined Fr. Tom on many of his pilgrimages to Italy and other parts of Europe. A professed Secular Franciscan she became quite active in the St. Anthony Fraternity in Butler, NJ. These years were filled with varied and exciting adventures for this intrepid woman. The final years of her life were lived at St. Vincents Healthcare Center in Cedar Grove, NJ. In the early hours of April 21, Tessieann passed from this life into eternal life. Hers was a life well lived.
