Theresa Cecilia Fay (nee Prunty), of Kinnelon, NJ, age 89, passed away peacefully on October 30th at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Please join in celebrating her life on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. The wake is 11AM-2PM at Our Lady of the Magnificat Church, with Mass immediately following. The address is 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon, NJ. Masks will be required, and temperatures will be taken upon entry to the church. Theresa will be laid to rest on Monday, November 16th at Mount St. Mary Cemetery in Flushing, Queens, New York - near her parents and deceased husband. Theresa was born November 30, 1930 in the Bronx, New York, to Peter and Catherine (nee Mulligan) Prunty - immigrants from County Longford in Ireland. The youngest sister of Mary (Brennan), Patrick, Peter and Helen she grew up in the Depression, WWII, and post war years. After attending St Jean-Baptiste High School in Manhattan, Theresa earned her RN degree from Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn. Her fifty-year nursing vocation focused especially on neo-natal intensive care at leading hospitals, including Babies Hospital at New Yorks Columbia-Presbyterian. Theresa married veteran and neighbor John Fay on November 22, 1951, and they had six children over the next ten years: John, Michael, Edna, Susan, Andrew, and Gene. The family grew up in College Point, Queens, New York, and moved to Kinnelon, New Jersey in 1965.Theresa loved having a sip of tea, reading books, listening to music, and going to museums and concerts by and with family and friends. She enjoyed walks in the woods and on the beach with her family and her dogs. Being of Irish decent, she loved anything Irish like their songs and sayings. Theresa is survived by her sister Helen as well as by her 6 children, their spouses, 17 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She has many surviving nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and touched deeply. The entire extended family will miss her smile and her supportive and easy-going nature. All service will take place at Our Lady of Magnificat Church, 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon, NJ on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Visitation will be from 11:00 am-2:00 pm, with a Mass at 2:00 pm. Final disposition will be private. The limits on indoor gatherings at OLM is a maximum of 150 people in the church building. Attendees should be wearing masks and practicing social distancing, temperatures will be taken upon entering the building. Please enter through the school doors and exit through the front entrance.
