Virginia Mary San Filippo, of Kinnelon died January 15, 2013. Virginia Mary Lutz was born in Bronx, NY in May 1926. She graduated from Manhattan's "The Dominican Academy" in 1944, and further matriculated to St. John's University. She worked for Pan American Airlines where she met the Love of her Life, Robert D. San Filippo. They married on March 31, 1951, and lived in France, Massachusetts, Switzerland, and New York before settling in the Smoke Rise Section of Kinnelon in 1960. Virginia and Robert were founding members of Our Lady of the Magnificat Church, where Virginia served as one of the first catechists of the CCD program. She was also one of the original Den Mothers of Cub Scout Pack 77 in Kinnelon, a founding member of the Smoke Rise Riding Club, and a devoted Kinnelon Colt Fan. She was known as Gini by most but Ma or Mom San Filippo for dozens of "wayward" boys (and some girls), whom she fed and housed with a smile and a song, gave guidance to some, but listened to all. Virginia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and daughter. She leaves behind, R. David San Filippo, his wife Lynn, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren in Orlando, Florida; Thomas E. San Filippo, his wife Onia, and three grandchildren in Winter Park, Florida; Paul G. San Filippo, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild in Atlanta, GA; Andrew J. San Filippo, his wife Kellie, and two grandchildren in Kinnelon, NJ. Virginia was predeceased by "Her Bob" in November of 2001 after 50 years of marriage. Viewing hours will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 4 to 8 pm at The Morrison Funeral Home 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. A funeral mass will be held Saturday 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Magnificat Church, Kinnelon Entombement to follow at Our Lady of Magnificat Church Cemetery. Saturday morning family and friends are to meet at the church.
