Vivian Casanova

Vivian Casanova, age 70, of Fayson Lakes, Kinnelon, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2019. Vivian was born in Havana, Cuba, the daughter of Enrique and Juana Casanova. She immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of 13 as a political refugee from the Castro Regime in 1961. She spent her early years in Miami but lived most of her life in New Jersey where she raised her only child. Vivian is survived by her daughter, Marisela and her husband Darren Lane, along with her grandchildren, Aidan and Evan, siblings, Henry Casanova, Miriam Vazquez, and Manuel Casanova. While living in Kinnelon, Vivian was a very active member of her church, Butler United Methodist Church where she loved working in the church and cherished praising the Lord. Serving on several committees, she was awarded certificates of Leadership and Basic Lay Servant, recognizing her passion and commitment for the church. Vivian enjoyed helping others whenever she could, loved to read her bible, praying for and with others. She loved spending time with her grandsons, sharing all the little and big moments with them, from watching cartoons, playing board games, going on vacations and she especially enjoyed cooking for them. Vivian was a funny, loving and caring person. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Always thinking of others first, "Conocerla era amarla" ~ "To know her was to love her." A prayer service will be held at the Butler United Methodist Church, 5 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ on Monday, February 25, from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 342 Oak Ridge Rd. Oak Ridge, NJ. Nine years ago, Vivian suffered from a stroke that disabled her physically, but not her spirit.
