Walther Andersen

Walther Andersen, 86, of Butler, New Jersey, died July 21, 2012, from complications following a ruptured appendix. Walther was born May 26, 1926 in Aalesund, Norway. As a young man came to Brooklyn, New York, where he met and married Astrid Hansen of Lista, Norway. They were married for 46 years and had one daughter, Lynn Marion. Both mother and daughter have predeceased him. All his working life Walter was a tugboat engineer for Moran in New York Harbor. In his free time he loved to work with tools and wood.He was an active member of holy Trinity Lutheran church in Rockaway, the Norway ski club and Nor-Bu Sons of Norway also in Rockaway. He was helpful at the Tri Boro Ambulance Squad and anyone else would ask for help. His family and his many friends will miss him. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning July 26, 2012 at 10:30 AM, at the holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockaway New Jersey. Interment to follow at Marcella Union also in Rockaway, New Jersey. Please feel free to join the Sons of Norway members as they pay tribute with a special ceremony in church at 10 AM.
