William R. "Bob" Edland, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 21, 1941, in Plainfield, NJ, Bob was a gentle soul who devoted his life to the service of others and his community.

As a proud graduate of Wayne High School in Wayne, Class of 1959, he embodied the values of integrity and compassion, instilling them in those around him. His remarkable spirit led him to serve in the Army National Guard, where he continued to showcase his unwavering commitment to standing up for what was right—a hallmark of his character. He was known as a fair man, one who not only cared for his fellow human beings but also for the animals that adored him.

Bob had a passion for classic cars and music. He frequently attended car shows, where he found joy and camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts. With an impressive ability to take anything apart and rebuild it, Bob’s hands were as skilled as his heart was kind. This ability reflected his approach to life, always finding ways to mend and improve not just the material but the bonds he shared with family and friends.

His love story with his wife, Mary, spanned 45 beautiful years, during which they created a warm and loving family together. Bob is survived by his devoted children, William Robert (Sue), Cassandra Ann Edland, Gary James Rowe, and Christopher Michael Rowe (Jessica), who carry on his legacy of kindness and compassion. He was blessed with grandchildren Benjamin, Daniella, Dominic—his special buddy—Gary, Katelyn and Brady, who brought immense joy to his life. Also surviving is his loving sister Mariann Moore.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William Harold and Martha Charlotte (Vowles) Edland and sister, Barbara Day.

As we reflect on William R. Edland's life, we celebrate his compassionate spirit, his unwavering principles, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will live on through the love he cultivated within his family and all who were touched by his gentle presence.
