William Edward Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Edward Smith, age 92. William passed away peacefully surrounded by his 5 loving and caring children on Sunday, May 21, 2023. William was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Evelyn Pauline Smith and dear children Robert L. Smith and Frances Smith.

William was born in New York, New York, the son of the late Robert William Smith and mother Adele Agnes (Russell) Smith. William proudly served on the US Navy Destroyer, USS Bristol #857. He will be honorably remembered for his dedication and pride he had for our country.

Behind him, William leaves a legacy of love, wisdom and cherished memories for his loving brother Rod Smith and his wife Silvia, his 5 beloved children, William E. Smith JR, John M. Smith and wife Sue, Donna M. McCabe and husband Mike, Michael P. Smith and wife Jill, and James B. Smith, 11 cherished grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews to carry with them.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday May 23, 2023, at 1pm at the Pompton Reformed Church Cemetery.
