William Grant, age 78, of Butler, formally of Kearny, NJ, died Sunday, February 14, 2016. Mr. Grant was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of the late Patrick and the late Catherine ( Martin) Grant. He was a Masonry foreman for the local bricklayers Union in New York City, he belong to the Irish and Scott's clubs in Kearny, the Knights of Columbus in Butler, a former owner of the Brigadoon Fish and Chip shop in Kearny, he was an avid pool player and supportive of his beloved Celtic Football Club and was also a New York Ranger fan. He is survived by his beloved daughter Catherine Grant, his loving siblings, Sr. Sadie Grant, John Grant, Andy Grant, and Cathy Greig and his cherished grandchildren, Jake Mathews Jr., and Elizabeth Helms and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by his devoted wife Betty Grant. Viewing hours will held Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 11am-1PM at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered also on Thursday 1:30pm at St. Anthony RC Church, Butler, NJ. All other services will be private.
