William K. Rose, age 80, of Butler, formerly of Pompton Plains and Montclair, NJ, died Sunday, March 15, 2015. Mr. Rose was the son of the late Otto T. and the late Florence (McDonough) Rose. A graduate of Montclair High School, William pursued a career in Education at Montclair State University and graduated in 1956. Excelling in athletics, he was inducted into the Montclair State University Hall of Fame for Baseball and Basketball in 1980. William spent 32 years at the Richard Butler School, Butler, as a Physical Education Teacher, in addition to coaching basketball, baseball and track at the Butler High School and teaching Driver's Education. William was an avid sports fan and a veteran of the Army. William is survived by his devoted wife of 53 loving years, Carolann (nee Flynn), his beloved children, Susan Rose, Cheryl Castiglia and her husband Joseph, and Kathy Franks and her husband Robert, 7 cherished grandchildren, Allyson, Marisa, Daniel, and Michael Castiglia, Elizabeth, Abigail and Matthew Franks, and one brother, Robert Rose and his wife Kathryn. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Theodore. Viewing hours will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 4:00-9:00 PM at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral mass will be held Friday 9:00 am at St. Anthony's RC Church, Butler. Internment immediately following at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Montclair, NJ.
